Competence network complementary medicine in oncology (KOKON)

Competence network complementary medicine in oncology (KOKON)

KOKON is organized as a closely linked cluster of seven work packages with the overall aim to develop, implement and evaluate an interdisciplinary competence network in the field of complementary medicine (CAM) in oncology in order to generate high-quality information on existing practices and to set goals for the future as well as to assess, appraise and disseminate the evidence base to patients, health care professionals and advisors. The work packages will analyze the needs and offers of CAM information for cancer patients and for health care professionals and will develop an information platform for CAM accordingly, develop an expert consulting service for CAM in cancer and evaluate the service, develop and evaluate tailored CAM education programs for health care professionals and cancer survivors as well as presenting an ethical framework of CAM in oncology.

The Complementary Medicine Department at the Charité - University Center, Berlin, lead by Dr. Witt, supervises as methodology center all methodological approaches and guarantees high quality of data management for the entire network.
